Motion Tracker plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro lets you turn a tracked mask into Motion keyframes, so text, graphics, or any other clip can follow movement in the scene.

Automatic motion tracking of masks has been a feature built into Adobe Premiere Pro for a long time, but it was never possible to stick something like a title, an image, or any other clip to that track so it follows an object in the shot. Motion Tracker reads the mask you already tracked on Opacity and writes position, scale, and rotation keyframes onto the Motion effect of the clip you choose. So now you can follow something in the scene, or stabilize the footage around it, without the need to go into After Effects.

Requires Premiere Pro 26.0 or newer.

It can also STABILIZE your footage around the tracked mask. Choose Stabilize and paste onto the tracked clip. Black borders show up where the clip moves away; nest the clip and scale the nested sequence up to hide them.

What you get after purchase

Shopify sends the usual order email right away. A follow-up email then arrives with the plugin download and your license key. Open the plugin and enter that key.

Each license works on 2 computers at a time. To move it to another machine, open the panel on the old one and click Deactivate this computer.

How to install

  1. Unzip the download.
  2. On a Mac, double-click Install Motion Tracker.command. On Windows, double-click Install Motion Tracker.bat. Creative Cloud's installer opens and warns that the plugin is not from the Adobe Marketplace. Click Install. If macOS says the file cannot be opened, right-click it and choose Open.
  3. Restart Premiere Pro, then open Window > UXP Plugins > Motion Tracker.

How to use

  1. On the clip you want to track, add a mask to Opacity (a drawn mask or an object mask) and track it. Everything outside the mask turns transparent.
  2. Select that clip and click Track selected clip. Other video tracks are hidden while it measures the mask, then shown again. Don't edit the sequence until it finishes.
  3. Select the clip you want to animate, park the playhead where it sits correctly relative to the tracked object, and click Paste as motion keyframes.

After the clip is tracked (step 2. above) the Opacity mask can be removed or the opacity effect disabled.
