This video explains the math behind curves in photo and video editing software. I show how to adjust contrast with curves uniquely to each image and what curves adjustment means. I also touch on how tone curve works in Lightroom. This also applies to Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and pretty much any other program like Final Cut Pro or Capture One.

I explain how these programs interpret the curves adjustment, how the shape of curve affect local contrast and how to take advantage of that in order to apply adjustment that are unique to a particular image and how to bring out contrast in certain parts of the image.
